Darren Grimes in his sub stack article ” The Scorpion and the Frog” not only illuminates a better pathway to freedom for indigenous people in Canada but the grassroots approach to governance that all people deserve and must demand.
Nick Walsh in his sub stack has elaborated on Darren’s article adding thoughtful points to consider around “meaningful consultation”, I call it Partnership. What we are experiencing now has and is currently failing all Canadians. When a leader, regardless of cultural background and affiliation, can manipulate the wishes of the people for self-serving interests the result is way too often graft, corruption, personal gain or lets just call it what it is, selfish and controlling. We need people over politics in this country at all levels.
There are many “Bands” in this country. Indigenous, Municipal, Provincial, Federal and more. Do these leaders have what’s best for the grassroots they represent at heart or are they motivated by M.I.C.E. (Money, Ideology, Coercion or Ego)? One look at the Federal Government and we see personal profiteering embedded into the financial frame work with huge sums of money given or committed to other countries and questionable nation building projects that must align with the extreme net-zero ideology while other countries of significance are rejecting it.
How does this serve the people? The needs are here in Canada where Canadians must come First. A Canadian must be a Canadian under the Sun. If we are to debate who came first we must go back millions of years to be true to this thinking, was it the Anunnaki, Star People, does anyone really know? If we are every to recover from the quagmire our country has become we must find our voices and stand shoulder to shoulder as people with equal rights who inhabit this country, reject the politics of division. Work together to share Canada’s natural abundance and prosper together. This will never happen as long as those who wish to rule for profit and control are not held to account at all levels of government. It starts with us as individuals and what we value. What are your guiding Foundational Principles, do you demand the same of those who are our leaders, do they reflect these principles and do you hold them to this principled standard or are we content to watch our society burn?
